What We Believe

about God

God is the Creator and Ruler of all things.  He eternally exists as a fellowship of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, possess all the attributes of deity, and are one God.

Genesis 1:1,26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2

about Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal second person of the Trinity, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. He lived a perfect and sinless life and voluntarily offered himself as the sacrifice for the sins of all humanity by dying on the cross. He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven.

Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3, 4; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; 2 Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4:14,15

about The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the eternal third person of the Trinity, co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He permanently indwells every believer from the moment of salvation to provide power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and assurance of salvation. He uniquely endows each believer with spiritual gifts that are to be used by the believer to build up the Body of Christ. The believer should seek, by faith, to live under his power and control in order to become more like Christ.

John 16:7-13; 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 3:16; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 1:13; 5:18

about Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.  Being created in God’s image gives people inherent dignity and worth.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Isaiah 59:1,2; Romans 3:23

about Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Salvation is union with Christ, which results in a right standing before God, adoption by God, transformation to Christlikeness, and participation in the fellowship of God. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.
Romans 3:23-24, 5:12, 5:16, 6:23; Psalms 51:4-5; John 3:16, 14:6; Acts 4:12, 10:43; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 1:13-14; 1 John 5:11-13; Romans 8:15-17; Galatians 4:5; Ephesians 1:5; Acts 16:31; Acts 2:38; Galatians 5:24-25; Titus 3:5; John 3:5-8; Romans 8:29; 1 John 3:3.

about The Church

We believe that all those, anywhere, who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord make up the one true church. The purpose of the local church is to organize Christians to reach unbelievers with the message of salvation, serve as a corporate body for worship of God, provide fellowship for Christians, develop the gifts and talents of Christians for service, and practice baptism and communion. We believe baptism and communion are God’s ordinances to be observed by believers in Jesus Christ, but not to be regarded as a means of salvation.

Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38-41; 42-47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, 12:12-13; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 10:24-25; 13:17

about Scripture

The Bible is God's Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105; Psalm 119:160; Psalm 12:6; Proverbs 30:5

about the Christian Life
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Holy Spirit, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
